To “P” or not to “P” (Sony VAIO P)

That is my facebook status for a while: to “P” or not to “P”. As you know that for the last 2 months I have been using my beloved Acer Aspire One. I still love my Aspire One. Considering the money I spent and what I got, it is one of the best purchase that I made (next to my Iphone 3G purchase which pretty much I got it for free). The performance is great. It is very practical to use after all the tweaks and the right application installed. I pretty much rarely use my main MacBook since I bought the netbook. I constantly attach the MacBook to the external monitor nowdays and use it as a desktop PC.

I mentioned on one of my post that my pain points with Aspire One were only two: The resolution is a bit lower that I want (I love HP 2133 resolution) and still pretty heavy (at 2.7 lb).

Now with the new Sony VAIO P coming out, I have to make the decision again. Should I stay with my Aspire One or should I consolidate my two devices (Aspire One and MacBook) into one device. It seems that with the 128 SSD configuration + possibly upgrade to Windows 7 in the near future, the Sony VAIO P will perform pretty descent. What I gain from Sony VAIO P is a much smaller and lighter machine with full keyboard and very high resolution screen. The downside, the default battery will only give me 2.5 hours of real world usage (of course I can get the extended battery version but that will impact the aesthetic look of it :P ).

I probably will wait until I play with one first. That way I can better gauge the usefulness of the device. But here it goes again, my quest of the perfect device continues. To “P” or not to “P” :)

Cheers.
